Stadler Rail decided for Seisenbacher: Seisenbacher has been awarded the supplier contract for interior ceiling systems for the new EC250 – the first high speed train that the Swiss Federal Railways will be operating and will be manufactured by Stadler Rail in Bussnang, CH.
Based on Stadler’s 3-D Models, design and engineering principles, Seisenbacher’s engineering team will be developing an integrated ceiling system which will consist of
- all structural components
- air ducts
- cable ducts
- central ceiling
- side ceiling
Seisenbacher will be supplying ceiling systems for 29 trains (each train consisting of 11 cars) , with deliveries starting March / April 2016.
About Stadler EC250 – ‘Giruno’
The Stadler EC250 is a high-speed electric multiple unit train under development by Stadler Rail of Switzerland for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). According to Stadler Rail, it is to be the world’s first single-decker low-floor high-speed train.
The units are to operate with a top speed of 250 km/h (160 mph) and have a length of 200 metres (660 ft); they will be accommodating up to 400 passengers and intend to replace the Cisalpino ETR 470 trains on the transalpine route between Milano and Basel / Zürich; later on, these trains are also supposed to run between Switzerland and Germany.
